1500 big ends went. Replaced them but they didn't last (Since found out my Torque wrench was fucked!!). Bought a 1300 which is a better higher revving engine. Runs really sweet. It's not super fast but it's way better than the original 800cc. :lol

The shiny ones are VW domes but the kept falling off :( so now I'm running the original ones.

Unfortunately (or fortunately :D ) this one runs on 16". Soon as I get it home, I'll be popping off the hubcaps and checking the PCD, then scouring tinternet for something wider :D

I like the later shape ones too:

This estate one is particularly my fave - slammed over ARE 5 spokes please.

Yeah, that's per wheel. Still pretty reasonable compared to most places.

Hey it's been a while...

The Eight is sold and the new owner has a 2.0 pinto ready to go in over the winter.

The Vanguard now after a mild lowering job and some paint on the wheels.

Current specs are

1954 Standard 8

2 Litre pinto engine running stock 32/36 weber
5 speed type 9 gearbox
facet fuel pump and filter king regulator
slimline fan
custom prop by bailey morris
4.1:1 herald diff
Spitfire disc conversion
Gaz coilovers on front
Axle flip on rear
Original wheels banded

the short term plans for the car are simple..... use it!

I do however have a few issues, the brakes are not really feeling up to the job so ive ordered some uprated cylinders and various overhaul parts for the rear brake drums tonight to increase the bias to the front to deal with the increase in mass at that end.

Also ordered some green stuff pads for the discs upfront, hopefully that should solve the problems.

Failing that i have the caliper brakes to fit gt6 calipers to it and i could go down the servo route if need be too.

The other thing on the cards is a visit to a well known local artist who specialises in custom bikes and hotrods etc for some period arbrushing/signwriting on a spare bonnet i have. Toying with the idea of something on the doors where the 8's used to be, maybe some cream and red distressed signwriting...

thoughts?
