December 2017. Going to try to get this blog back together after photobucket screwed it. I think the earlier pics are on a PC I luckily still have...

Had this K11 lurking around for 3 years now & am having my third wind at getting it sort of finished.
Came to me as taxed scrap,I used it in standard form for a while then started cutting bits off it.
Started life as a 1.0 litre, now has a 1300cc with the 1.0 litre gearbox,4 branch manifold with decats.Few other minor mods to do engine wise,I've been spending most of my time getting rid of what is not required from the car.Running out of stuff to remove now, last dilemma is deciding whether I can do without the heater system & rig something up for demisting with a hot air gun/hairdrier & pipe combo & a mini fan near the matrix for some interior heat.
Very noisy,& very hard.Using cut down Spax lowering springs at the moment but might put the cut original springs on for a bit of relative comfort..

LOVE K11 micras!

Looks great, love the stripped out look too,

If you can afford it, look for the heaters they use in kit cars (lotus/caterham 7's, etc) They're pretty small and compact.

Thanks for the feedback :)
Trying to get a load of jobs done this week & see if I can get the shell painted at the weekend maybe.
Stone chipped the interior floor tonight & going to seal it with a coat of lacquer tomorrow.
The summer use Freelander style tailgate is now finished & can be held up with one finger, the "normal" tailgate has had the guts all cut out & is awaiting me cutting the perspex to replace the glass..

It was meant to be a quick project as a works runabout but kinda escalated..
Most of the work is done but there's going to be a few minor engine mods after I've tested it in its fully stripped form to see what performance improvements have been made...
Some interior decorating has been started but lack of black ink cartridge in the printer has stopped progress for now..
A roll cage if one comes up for the right price, but the weight of them puts me off...Although I could lose half the roof & convert to a mini-pick up truck if I had one :)
Also got a spare front end sitting around to experiment on,& a front bumper I spent ages on back then that needs finishing off.Not very weight watcher friendly,I must have slapped 5 litres of filler into it already :doh
& really got to do something with the suspension before it goes out, have to virtually stop for speed humps.Back to Micra springs for now but Matiz rear springs fit the front & are low & comfy & Corsa rear shocks/coilovers can be made to fit the rear..

The battery was put behind the passenger seat ages ago with a cut out switch. We used the original battery holder which is a heavy thing so as the interior is being redone & the tray is removed I've made some modifications to it.With a grinder :)
It's surprising the amount of unwanted baggage you can find on cars, there's a satisfyingly heavy pile of scrap building up from this little blitz I'm having in between getting the paint done.

Old pic.Who's this is interfering with the passenger seat :ghey

& last night I attacked the tray that the ECU sits on under where there was once a dash :devil
Image

& painted the front wing.Just need to do the plastic door handles & the petrol flap & the nearside is done

Few bits done, finished the summer tailgate & painted the smoothed rear bumper.
Scrapped a facelift Micra & robbed it's suspension so I can replace the stupidly hard cut spax. Also used the facelift rear lights..Rear bumper is interesting too, might do something with that in the future.
Also scrapped a Corsa B & kept & fitted the rear shocks which are shorter for more lows & to keep the little springs captive.Removed 3 coils all round..
Spent much of the weekend fannying around with a front bumper with Primera SRI air dams that's been dragging on for years. It's now in primer at last ready for paint after one more flat...
...And the drivers side is all prepped ready to mask & paint..

Got the front bumper finished, fitted it to see whether it needs the splitter, which I think it does.Going to dismantle the front again anyway to change the suspension.
Painted the drivers side & fitted it up,the car now has perspex side windows, tints to the rear.Going to tackle the tailgate this week...

Cheers getting there now should be on the road again at the end of the month..
The paint is black basecoat with satin lacquer. The first lacquer was Spies Hecker at £40 a litre, when I went to get more they had run out so I tried the HB body Matt which is only £16 a litre & came out exactly the same.Wish I'd have known about this before I started :doh

Thanks yeah got there eventually with the bumper, worth it in the end.Going to fit the Laguna splitter, black all the rad & metalwork behind & it's done...
It is a laugh to drive, think the brake compensator is confused as it like to go into a skid so must look into some adjustment on that then it's on the road again.Looking forward to getting it on a weighbridge & see how much has been lost :D

Mini update...It's been on the road again for a few trouble-free but noisy/hard months.
Great laugh to drive except for speed humps.Removed the cut spax & replaced with cut standard but it's made no noticeable difference.Had a measure up with a standard Micra,it's lowered by 110mm.No pain,no gain..It goes round corners well :)
Left it in the street for a few days..nosy neighbour must have taken exception & got a removal notice from the council :rolleyes
& took it to the weighbridge to see how much excess baggage has been removed. It's 700kg now,& they're 823kg as standard.Few more bits to go yet...
