I've just given it a right good sanding again especially on the black bits and a salt respray so I'll see what it looks like when I get back from work tonight.

Cheers!

I need to start the roof. My bloody wife is moaning about having the bars, rails and hamper in the house!! I'm off work tomorrow so need to crack on as I would like much of it completed in time for Stanford Hall in 2 weeks. It's just if this weather gives me a break. When I'm off work, it's bloody raining and I don't have a garage. I'm getting up at 6am tomorrow to fix a dripping **SPAM** tap then I'll crack on with my car. In fact...I might do the tap when I get home from work tonight!

The roof, I'm thinking similar lines to the bumper with a diamond pattern (5" or 6" diamonds) which starts off ok but then a massive rusty patch at the back. TBF, most of the roof will be unseen due to the basket so I might save the rust on there until last as I want to make sure I have enough to do the rest of the car.

I'm aiming to get the front wings and front doors painted with the rust paint tomorrow....just depends on the weather. I could always whack on the bumper as it doesn't matter if it's pissing it down.

Had a weird (but expected) conversation with a neighbour this morning. I was sanding the bonnet down (last picture above) when he came over and said "...that was a bit rusty." I told him it was supposed to be and he looked at me all blank before saying"...yeah, but it was rusty!" I think I'm going to get fed up explaining myself!! :sleepy :popcorn :blah
Oh well, Rat-Look FTW!! :chill

Should have said "Yeah I know, some bugger stole all my paint :'( "
That would have confused him :insanity

That paint looks the tits :D

Love the diamond pattern, it's a good twist on the checker look

Cheers mate :tu . I was going to do the roof in chequer/rust but I decided last minute to scrap that idea. I reckon it'll be too much. I think I will be going for a flat colour up there. I did the fuel cap in a chequer today and I don't like it...in fact I hate it. I will leave it for the time being though and I'll wait for the rust to start showing before I repaint it as I might find I like it when the car is rusty :huh

I'll probably do the back bumper the same as the front one though.

Really poor pictures I'm afraid. I'll break out the Nikon when it's rusty and my hands are clean.

This is where I bought it from mate. TBH, I'm still experimenting to try and get a solid rust effect.

This'd look sweet if you feather it into the original paint, especially around the handles, etc. It'd make it more subtle and natural looking...

Loving it so far, looking forwards to more rust!
