Project "Old Rusty" has begun :D

Been busy today stripping the bonnet/lower bootlid..

This stuff has got pricey nowadays!

Image

Masked up the bonnet ready.

Image

Starting to work,it was shocking just how much paint was on the bonnet, had a cherry red colour at one point so I reckon its had a bump and respray at one point.

Image

Done, stripes looked shite TBH so stripped them off aswell

Image

Rear panel W.I.P

Image

All done!

Image
Image

Gonna run over the panels again to get rid of the remainders of the galvanisation with my orbital sander that Ive dug out of the spare room(only did the panels by hand today)

wet and dry the bodywork tommorow ready for the blackboard paint Ive bought methinks :aviator

If you do decide to keep it with the galv look and its started corroding just rub it over with some sandpaper...maybe some P40 and you'll get a second chance if its fairly early days they laquer it! But blackboard paint sound pretty cool. theres a Blackboard black Merc sprinter around my end and it looks top! :tu

A brush to do all the cutting in and a short-pile mini roller(I`m a decorator by trade so my gear comes in handy sometimes)
