I'm thinking about turning my 95 Civic Hatch into an apocalypse car. It's a little project I came up with. Every single mod on the car will be more or less something I'd be able to salvage in a post apocalyptic world.

I want to cover most of the car in rust, that dark brown kind of rust to fit the theme. However, what I'm not sure about is if the rust will start to eat away the metal causing all kinds of nasty holes and eventually destroying the car. An important thing to note is that, if I am going to rust up my car, I am definitely going to lacquer it, which, as far as my knowledge goes, should prevent the damage.

Since I'm new to the whole rat-look scene, what I'd like to know is if the rust will cause serious damage, would lacquer prevent it and if not, are there any ways to avoid such damage?

Thank you.

There are "Rust paints" available on Ebay, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121613045963? ... EBIDX%3AIT
Don't ask me how well they work.
