Bare with me on this fellas (and gals). Bought this a couple of weeks ago. Really wanted a 6N Polo but time was against me (and money was burning a hole in my pocket). Anyway this is how she looks today. I got it MOT'd a week after buying it and it failed..mostly brakes so I am ok on that!!!!! This will be the first car (other than the Smart) which I haven't given away around MOT time!! They really stress me that much. Anyway, I decided to bite the bullet and keep this. I will be fixing it up tomorrow and re-MOTing it so major Rat work can start next week.

Like I said in another thread (Passrat thread??), I am quite concerned it will end up looking like Connor's B5......I love that car so much!! I am open to suggestions though.

So, plans for the forthcoming weeks:

*FK Streetline Coilovers...low, low low! **advice/ideas welcome :tu **

*Rust!!! Bring it on.

*Homebrew roof rack. I'm building a fecker as they're too expensive. I've been scouring car boots for the past 2 weeks buying shit to put on my roof. I'm on this already.

*Stickerbomb back O/S window...again, been busy buying these over the past few weeks.

*Wheels!! I really wanted the AMG 2 wheels. I think 17's would have done me fine. However, it WILL look like Connors so I can't do that. I will almost certainly go down the 16" steel wheel route. Probably red or baby blue, both with a white lip. I am very tempted for Porsche D90's though. **advice/ideas welcome :tu **

*Paint Job. I'm thinking a LandRover paint job with rust coming through. I've ALWAYS wanted a sand/beige bug and this'd show the rust very well. It will be a 4" foam roller job, nothing pro! If I don't go beige/sand then oak green is quite high up on my list **advice/ideas welcome :tu **

*Humidor. Don't know where I'm going to put it but I'm fitting one! :chill

I'm not really into ratty interiors unless I bought a car already like that. My interior is quite nice (heated leather etc) so I won't be going quite so Rat on its ass, but this may change! Might add a few ghetto clocks inside. I've half-fitted my boost gauge, just need to find the correct vacuum hose to chop into!! Gauge lights up/comes on with ignition so done the hardest part! Got plans for a small audio install so I can smash out my Nine Inch Nails, Deftones and Machine Head.

Anyway, thought's/ideas/photoshop more than welcome! It's a blank canvas. :tu

Loving the ideas specially the Humidor. :D

Maybe put a pattern into the rust instead of just rust?

I've all ways had an idea to get a Passat like yours and turn it into a "Zombie response unit" NATO green paint job with Anti zombie livery on the sides, weld wire mesh over the rear windows ( wont get away with it on the front) put an amber light bar on the top and spot lights on the bumper and roof, CB radio. Tally paint work down the side of zombie kills. Train horn or air hon of some sorts.

Just a thought :D

Oh Feck......The pressure is on now. The owner of my all-time favourite rat is in the house!! :tu

On a side note, I found some spray paint today that looks off-white in the day. When it's sunny as feck like today, it glows green at night!!!

The car is just going through the MOT now....£350 to get it through :doh . Should have it back in a couple of hours though soI'll be happy once it's back. I'm on nights for the next 3 nights so no movement over the weekend. However, I'll have most of next week to play as I don't go back work until Fri night. I need to plan the car carefully as I don't want random shit. I am seriously contemplating a 90% rust job though..we'll see.

Managed to snag a Thule roof basket for £28 off ebay last night so my roof rack won't be as ghetto as I thought. :| I'll have to modify it somehow.

Ill always admire anyone who can start out with a newish car in good condition and rat it, i have to find my cars in bad shape to be game enough :P

Some good ideas so far, i like that your stepping straight into coilovers, lows make or break a rat in my opinion and going straight for them show you know whats up.

And "I need to plan the car carefully as I don't want random shit" makes you sound like you've got the right idea.

I like the sound of that paint too ;)

Afternoon rat-bastards!!! A small update for you all.....went to get some bacon this morning and these 2 boxes were waiting for me when I got back!!
Image

Come on!!

Image
Image
Image
...my roof bars which don't fit at the minute...
Image
...but will do when my ghetto bar clamps are fitted!!
Image
You can't see this too well but this is my roof rack which will be bombed :tu
Image
...and this was inside parcel No.2
Image
..a VR6 MK3 splitter/spoiler for my wife's Golf....told me this morning she don't want it on her car!!!! :doh :doh :roflwtf

I also had a little think about my humidor. I was going to fit one close to the driver but I decided to do it like an audio install and fit it in the boot!!!
I was gonna fit this bad boy!!!!!

Image
It's a wine cooler which has been converted into a frigador!!
I've also got these smaller humidors...

Image
Image
...i decided I am gonna fit this one....
Image
Image
That's all for now!! I'm fitting the coilovers on Saturday, then I shall start on the paint. I really wanted to start prepping the paint his week but my head wouldn't let me until the coilovers turned up. I really think it needs to be low before I do anything. Talking about the paint... I'm heading up to Doncaster in 3 hours to collect something a bit special!!! I will be looking for wheels next month (end of June) if anyone fancies selling theirs??? Just let me know!!

Also, thoughts, ideas most welcome fellas (and girls)!!!

Went Donny last night to collect "something a bit special." Frigging stinks like buggery. Had to drive back with all 4 windows and the sunroof open. That's all for today anyway folks!

Coilovers fitted!!

There's a downside though :( It's too low. Can I say that? :( Where I bloody live are a load of speed humps. My car badly scrapes on one of those stupid mini humps :doh I even stopped before going over it and it's impossible. Sad to say, I've gotta lift it a touch tomorrow. Gutted.
Anyway, early this morning, this is what it looked like...

And now.... :D Image

I'm very very tempted to leave off the bumper inserts which I whipped out the other day. I might bang something in the gaps though to help with stones, badgers and foxes smashing into my rad/engine etc.
As for the wheels, I'm burnt out this month cash wise so they are staying until payday! I'll leave the centre caps off as I prefer it that way.

Another small update. Managed to finish off the boost gauge today and all working :D :D :D

Image

Got the live wire for the amp routed to the boot from the engine bay. Not rat, I know, but hey! We all like our music and I need people to hear my Deftones.

Started to piss it down so I whipped off the front bumper. Fitted some DRL's. There wasn't enough plastic to screw the brackets into so like all Rat Bastards, I improvised! :D
Image

I found some wood in my shed so I screwed that to the bumper and whacked on the DRL's on that! fecking eco-friendly B5 now :roflwtf
Image

Finally, a proper Rat mod. While the bumper is off, I started to wet 'n dry it. Did it in the rain....Job's a good 'un. Decided I am going to spray paint a chequer pattern on the lower half, rust the top half. I'll tape it up tomorrow hopefully for the chequer. I've got 2 Famous Stars stencils somewhere. I was gonna do my bumper in that instead of the chequer but I cant find them.

It would be rust...except for the rain :(

I know that probably doesn't make sense but I need it to be dry so I can rust it. Trust me. :screwloose :screwloose

It'll probably be a paint job on the roof, front bumber and mirrors next.

I think I will do my new wheels pink. I haven't got them yet, but it'll be a girly shade of pink :hehehehe , not this manly pink-shit that some people have :roflwtf I still like the red wheels with whitewalls though so we'll see.

If it carries on raining, I'll probably start my boot install for the humidor!! :chill

Started late today people, played a bit of Battlefield 'til 2, then decided to go for a ride on my bike!!
Anyway, stopped about half an hour ago....neighbours are gonna love me!

So I started masking up the bumper with no idea what I was going to do
Image
Image
Then I added the rust paint which I picked up from Doncaster last week. I didn't even know I was going to rust the top half!
Image
Image
Image
Image

So I stopped for a beer or 5 and some nosh. It started getting dark and my crappy phone camera doesn't work too good at night.
Image

I was going to do a normal chequer pattern but couldn't decide on the size of the squres. In the end, I decided to do a diamond pattern.

Image

I put some rust paint over the diamond/chequer. It'll be rusty in the middle and a bit on the outside edges, with a weathered chequer pattern if that makes sense??
Image

First coat of paint on the chequers
Image
Image

I started banging about and had loads of tools to put away so I packed up for the night! :popcorn
