Bare with me on this fellas (and gals). Bought this a couple of weeks ago. Really wanted a 6N Polo but time was against me (and money was burning a hole in my pocket). Anyway this is how she looks today. I got it MOT'd a week after buying it and it failed..mostly brakes so I am ok on that!!!!! This will be the first car (other than the Smart) which I haven't given away around MOT time!! They really stress me that much. Anyway, I decided to bite the bullet and keep this. I will be fixing it up tomorrow and re-MOTing it so major Rat work can start next week. Like I said in another thread (Passrat thread??), I am quite concerned it will end up looking like Connor's B5......I love that car so much!! I am open to suggestions though. So, plans for the forthcoming weeks: *FK Streetline Coilovers...low, low low! **advice/ideas welcome ** *Rust!!! Bring it on. *Homebrew roof rack. I'm building a fecker as they're too expensive. I've been scouring car boots for the past 2 weeks buying shit to put on my roof. I'm on this already. *Stickerbomb back O/S window...again, been busy buying these over the past few weeks. *Wheels!! I really wanted the AMG 2 wheels. I think 17's would have done me fine. However, it WILL look like Connors so I can't do that. I will almost certainly go down the 16" steel wheel route. Probably red or baby blue, both with a white lip. I am very tempted for Porsche D90's though. **advice/ideas welcome ** *Paint Job. I'm thinking a LandRover paint job with rust coming through. I've ALWAYS wanted a sand/beige bug and this'd show the rust very well. It will be a 4" foam roller job, nothing pro! If I don't go beige/sand then oak green is quite high up on my list **advice/ideas welcome ** *Humidor. Don't know where I'm going to put it but I'm fitting one! I'm not really into ratty interiors unless I bought a car already like that. My interior is quite nice (heated leather etc) so I won't be going quite so Rat on its ass, but this may change! Might add a few ghetto clocks inside. I've half-fitted my boost gauge, just need to find the correct vacuum hose to chop into!! Gauge lights up/comes on with ignition so done the hardest part! Got plans for a small audio install so I can smash out my Nine Inch Nails, Deftones and Machine Head. Anyway, thought's/ideas/photoshop more than welcome! It's a blank canvas.

Loving the ideas specially the Humidor. Maybe put a pattern into the rust instead of just rust? I've all ways had an idea to get a Passat like yours and turn it into a "Zombie response unit" NATO green paint job with Anti zombie livery on the sides, weld wire mesh over the rear windows ( wont get away with it on the front) put an amber light bar on the top and spot lights on the bumper and roof, CB radio. Tally paint work down the side of zombie kills. Train horn or air hon of some sorts. Just a thought

connor_bristow wrote: I shall be very inerrsted to see where this goes Oh Feck......The pressure is on now. The owner of my all-time favourite rat is in the house!! On a side note, I found some spray paint today that looks off-white in the day. When it's sunny as feck like today, it glows green at night!!! The car is just going through the MOT now....£350 to get it through . Should have it back in a couple of hours though soI'll be happy once it's back. I'm on nights for the next 3 nights so no movement over the weekend. However, I'll have most of next week to play as I don't go back work until Fri night. I need to plan the car carefully as I don't want random shit. I am seriously contemplating a 90% rust job though..we'll see. Managed to snag a Thule roof basket for £28 off ebay last night so my roof rack won't be as ghetto as I thought. I'll have to modify it somehow.

Ill always admire anyone who can start out with a newish car in good condition and rat it, i have to find my cars in bad shape to be game enough Some good ideas so far, i like that your stepping straight into coilovers, lows make or break a rat in my opinion and going straight for them show you know whats up. And "I need to plan the car carefully as I don't want random shit" makes you sound like you've got the right idea. I like the sound of that paint too

ssidd wrote: I like this nothing like a new rat what next It would be rust...except for the rain I know that probably doesn't make sense but I need it to be dry so I can rust it. Trust me. It'll probably be a paint job on the roof, front bumber and mirrors next. I think I will do my new wheels pink. I haven't got them yet, but it'll be a girly shade of pink , not this manly pink-shit that some people have I still like the red wheels with whitewalls though so we'll see. If it carries on raining, I'll probably start my boot install for the humidor!!
